Google Speaks to Developers at I/O 2010

Google's largest developer event, Google I/O, returns to San Francisco in 2010, with the promise of giving web developers a glimpse of what’s to come from one of the Internet’s most influential companies.

Professional web developers that want the skinny on what is happening with Google are wise to book hotels and register for the event early, since, according to the event's landing page, “Google I/O brings together thousands of developers for two days of highly technical content, focused on pushing the boundaries of web applications through open web technologies and Google developer products like App Engine, Google Web Toolkit, Android, Chrome, APIs, and more.”

This is the third annual Google I/O, and it will be held on May 19-20, 2010 at the Moscone Center.

Early registration for the event opens on January 12, 2010. Advanced tickets will presumably be less expensive than tickets bought at the door, assuming any tickets are still available, as the show is usually an early sell out.

Recently, the Google I/O 2010 team announced on Twitter that visa letters will be provided upon request after registration for developers traveling to the event from outside of the United States. According to Google Twitter stream, developers who need a visa letter should email the request. These visa letters may allow developers from all over the world to join the event and some developers, such as a Thai developer Ohm Ips, are already looking for sponsors to help pay the expense of traveling to San Francisco next year.

According to the Android and Me blog, which is promising to give a better coverage of the event in 2010, last year’s event was extremely helpful for developers.
