In this video tutorial, I will demonstrate how to create several RSS feed icons. This tutorial is aimed at web developers wishing to increase their knowledge of Adobe Illustrator CS4 and vector icon design.
First, I will show you how to create the RSS feed logo that we will be using in our icon. I will show you how to modify an ellipse path to create the RSS logo and how to apply and expand its stroke.
Once the RSS feed logo has been created, I will show you how to use the rounded rectangle tool to create a body for the icon. With the icon body created, I will show you how to apply various Strokes, Gradients, and Effects to complete the icon. I will also show you how to easily create a glossy highlight for the icon.
Once the first icon has been created, I will show you how to easily duplicate and modify it to create two new icons. Finally, once three unique icons have been created, I will show you how to apply 3D Effects to any one of them to create a stylish 3D icon.
By the end of this tutorial you should have a better understanding of several techniques that can be used to create high quality, vector RSS feed icons.
