Twitter has become a powerful marketing tool for many developers. Adding a Twitter link on your site or to your clients' ecommerce sites can help gain more exposure and boost business.
In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to create several basic Twitter icons. This tutorial is aimed at web developers wishing to increase their knowledge of Adobe Illustrator CS4 and vector icon design.
First, I will show you how to import the swatches needed for this tutorial (included in the source files) and how to setup the foundation for our icon. Once the basis for our icon has been established, I will show you how to import and modify the Twitter logo (also included in the source files) to be placed in our icon.
I will also show you how to use the pathfinder tool to easily create a glossy highlight for our first icon. Once all of the elements are in place, I will show you how to apply various Strokes, Fills, and Effects to complete the first icon.
After completing the first icon, I will show you how to use the pieces that have already been constructed to quickly make two more icons using similar techniques. After three unique icons have been created, I will show you how to use the 3D Effects in Adobe Illustrator CS4 to create a trendy 3D version of any of the newly created icons.
By the end of this tutorial you should have a better understanding of several techniques that can be used to create high quality, vector Twitter icons.
