Charts and graphs can be an excellent way to display complete product information on ecommerce sites. And whether you're creating a bar graph or a pie chart, Adobe Illustrator has a unique tool that allows you to both create informative graphs and give them a professional design.
In this video tutorial, I will show you how to create a stylish bar graph in Adobe Illustrator.
First, I will show you how to create your bar graph using the Column Graph tool. I will explain how to manipulate the different data fields and how you can change the data after previewing the graph.
Once you have finalized your graph information, I will show you how to change the graph design by applying the 3D effect to the bars. Next, I will show you how to expand the 3D effect and apply a number of gradients to the various information columns. I will also show you how to add a highlight effect to the faces of the bars. To finish the bar design, I'll show you how to add a simple bevel to the edges of the bars.
To complete the design, I'll show you how to manipulate the angle of the numbers so that the entire design is in the same perspective. I'll also show you how to design the graph key so that it matches the rest of the graph.
By the end of this tutorial you should have a better understanding of the techniques that can be used to create a stylish bar graph in Adobe Illustrator CS4.
