An effective user interface (UI) encourages site visitors to engage and to act.
Last month, three of the industry's best known user-interface experts released Effective UI: The Art of Building Great User Experience in Software, a new book from O'Reilly Media. The book addresses how to develop effective user interfaces, and now, Ecommerce Developer wants to give you a chance to win a free copy of it.
Effective UI
According to the authors, Jonathan Anderson, John McRee, and Robb Wilson, "as the disparity between the growing expectations and demands for better UX [user experience] and the poor success rate of companies trying to meet that demand grows ever wider, it is increasingly important for business professionals to gain competency in building better UX in software.
"Effective UI was written for product managers who need a risk-reducing roadmap, for technologists and designers who need guidance and advocacy, and for business people who need to understand and manage UX-focused initiatives."
Your Chance to Win a Free Copy
If Effective UI sounds like a book you'd like to have, simply (1) subscribe to the Ecommerce Developer newsletter (if you already subscribe, you're good) and (2) post a comment telling us that you want the book.
On Friday, February 26, 2010, we will use a random number generator to select two winners. Those winners will be checked against our list of newsletter subscribers and given a free copy of Effective UI, thanks to the generous folks at O'Reilly Media and your friends here at Ecommerce Developer .

I could use this, both for our business, and my regular job. I'm so tired of looking at a information presentation that is confusing instead of insightful.

I want it. Please sign me up for a chance. I wonder about the title, though. Effective user experience is a lot more than good UI design.
