Apply Images to Text in Photoshop CS4

Using artistic typography on an ecommerce site creates a professional look that conveys trust.

This video tutorial will demonstrate how to apply a texture image to text in Adobe Photoshop CS4 to create trendy artistic typography. This technique can easily be replicated on other objects and can add a consistent overall theme to any site-design project. This tutorial will deal specifically with a wood grain texture, but the technique is versatile.

First, I will show you how to set up the text you plan to use so that a texture can be effectively applied to it. Next, I will show you how to import the texture file that will be applied to the text. With both the text and texture elements on your canvas, I will show you how to apply the texture to text you created.

Once the texture has been applied, I will show you how to add an Outer Glow effect, Bevel and Emboss effect, and Contour effect to give the text some added flare. Specifically adding the Bevel and Emboss effect will make the wood text look like it has a routed edge and really complete the design.
