Knowing how to effectively use stylized typography is an important aspect of any site and could improve many ecommerce sites.
In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a unique glowing text effect in Adobe Photoshop.
First, I will show you how to set up the document background by adding color to a rendered cloud effect. Next, I will show you how to create and position the text that the effect will be applied to.
With the text in place, I will open up the text "Layer Styles" and add a color overlay and an outer glow. I will also show you how to change the outer glow so that its blending mode is set to "Color Dodge."
Once the effect has been applied to the text, I will show you how to create an additional stroked path with the same glow effect applied to it. The stroked path will add an additional layer of depth to the image and serve as an example of what happens when the outer glows intersect.
By the end of this tutorial, you should have a better understanding of the techniques that can be used to create an outer glow effect in Adobe Photoshop CS4.
