Ten Examples of Ecommerce Web Developers' Own Sites

It is fair to say that web developers come in all shapes and sizes. Some work at large ecommerce enterprises, others work freelance from their living room or even a walk-in closet.

For those developers—typically freelance or agency-based—that do need to attract potential customers, a good portfolio site can make all of the difference. After all, if you don't have a great site, why would prospects hire you to build a site for them?

In this showcase post, I tracked down ten examples of good web development portfolio sites from both agencies and freelancers. I hope you find these as inspiring as I do, and I hope you'll add a link to your site in the comments below.

Limewheel Creative

Limewheel Creative is where LemonStand co-founder Danny Halarewich keeps his portfolio. Notice the emphasis on customer testimonials. Halarewich has also managed to pack a lot of information onto his home page.

Guidance

Guidance is a premier web development agency with an impressive client list. Notice that Guidance is careful to put a human face on its services. Clients are not just getting code, they are getting people willing and able to help. Perhaps you can let Guidance's design inspire you to make your own site more personal.

Pod1

Pod1 is one of the large agencies that I have included on this list. The company's site is top notch. If you want to impress potential clients you'd do well to imitate Pod1's use of images and video.
