The simplest tools can often produce startling results.
In this video tutorial, I will show you how to use a simple watercolor brush set in Adobe Photoshop to create a unique photo effect.
To begin, I will open up a paper texture image that I will use to bring out the watercolor effect. Next, I will show you how to import a custom brush set into Photoshop. In this case, I will be using a watercolor brush set that I downloaded from Brusheezy.
With all of the pieces in place, you can begin applying the watercolor brush effect. I will first show you how to hide all portions of your photograph by using a layer mask. I will then show you how to slowly reveal those portions using the watercolor brushes in Photoshop.
Once the image has been revealed using the watercolor brush technique, I will show you how to apply different layer styles and opacities to the photograph to increase the range or results. I will also show you how duplicating the masked photograph while using different blending modes can help bring out the texture in the brush strokes.
By the end of this tutorial, you should have a better understanding of how to use watercolor brushes in a range of styles in Adobe Photoshop CS4.
