Buttons are one of the most common elements found on web pages today. They are used to attract attention to specific links or to direct user actions.
In this video tutorial, I will show you how to create a stylish vector button using Adobe Illustrator CS4.
To begin this tutorial, I will show you how to set up your Illustrator document and create a foundation for the vector button using a rounded rectangle. Next, I will show you how to add a simple gradient, along with an inner-glow effect, to begin stylizing the button. I will also show you how to add a subtle stroke and a highlight element to the button before moving on.
Next, I will show you how to add a simple ribbon element around the corner of the button using a modified rectangle and the Pen and Pathfinder tools. With the ribbon element created, I will show you how to add a gradient, a highlight and a drop shadow to complete this part of the design.
Finally, I will show you how to add in text on both the ribbon element and the button itself. I will also show you how to simulate an embossed look for the texts using two different methods.
By the end of this tutorial, you should have a better understanding of how to quickly create stylish vector buttons using Adobe Illustrator CS4.
