Small-to-mid-sized ecommerce businesses often thrive in niche markets, some of which are seasonally driven.

Ecommerce developers looking for new clients may find a gold mind of opportunity in these seasonal markets, so here in mid-November 2010, I thought it would be helpful to take a look at several sites devoted to snowboarding.

Many of these websites are snowboard companies using these websites as complex brochure websites. There's only a couple in here that are 'ecommerce' sites that are selling snowboards.

How do you define ecommerce? selling online (transactions) or doing business online (branding)?

@nigelburke I define ecommerce as selling online, which is what all but five of the site listed above do--sell directly form their site. The five that do not link to dealers or other online stores.

For design inspiration, I do believe that we should look outside of our own industry.
