Studying current site designs, in a manner similar to the way an artist reviews the others' works, can be an important source of inspiration for your ecommerce design and development projects.
For instance, have you ever started a site development project wherein the client pointed to a handful of sites as examples? For me, this is always the case. So in this showcase, I have collected several examples of site designs aimed at expecting mothers. Some of these sites are retailers; others provide information. But all are potential sources of inspiration for a project in this niche.

I always enjoy these kinds of postings - for EXACTLY the reasons Armando noted above.
One thing I have been thinking about - insofar as ecommerce front-page design goes - is what people's thoughts are (and/or what the pros/cons might be) for a front page design that displays just one/two big advertisements right in the middle (such as "Motherhood Maternity" or "Destination Maternity" or "A Pea In The Pod" above) versus a front-page that has a nice size ad display/slideshow PLUS showcases additional/featured products and other items.
Perhaps this is a discussion for it's own posting thread, but there does seem to be a "school of thought" for ecommece front-page design - and it seems like it could be an interesting and informative discussion.

The old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, while some sites are beautiful, where are the call to actions? what do i do here? very poor navigation or too many pictures and text in a bad layout make me believe their not as pretty as they could be. Pretty website or converting website? I'll take the latter.

I have had the most success with home pages featuring large graphics, no copy to speak of, and basic navigation. In fact, I just did a site design that has no text except navigation links on the home page.

I find it funny that the same images are used on 3 sites: A Pea in the Pod, Destination Maternity, and Motherhood Maternity. And merely as an aside: as an ex-Labor and Delivery RN, as well as a mother, I can tell you 4 in. heels and pregnancy really don't mix.
